Arundel Festival Review

September 11, 2024

Thank you to all those who came to see our plays at the Arundel Festival. We enjoyed good houses and good reviews. Who could ask for more?

Our daytime plays were Inappropriate by Simon Brett.

The Hippopotamus Hypothesis by Hilary Spiers, with Tonya James as Candibce. Directed by David Hemsley-Brown.

Surplus Women by Stuart Smither, in association with The Arundel Players, with Tracy Clayton and Tamsin Brazier.

Dolly Gets Her Shot by Cary Pepper, directed by Deni Jones, with Jason Evans, Ken Jones and Daniel Kelly.

Our evening play was Lovesong by Abi Morgan, directed by Dawn Smithers, with Gill Medway, Jenna Costan, Stuart Smithers and Harry Rippon

Already, the search is on for new plays and more actors. Invitations are welcome. Our Autumn term production is Class by Iseult Golden and David Horam. The play explores the topical theme of streaming by perceived ability, selection, prejudice, and privilege, seen from the parents', the teacher's, and not least, the children's point of view.

We have a top-notch team of actors in Tonya James, Jason Evans, and new boy Rob Hall, under the experienced direction of Deni Jones with design by David Hemsley-Brown. (Did you see The Cane? Another angle on education and its repercussions on family life).
